Types and Characteristics of Lithium Polymer Batteries

They can be made into thin, flat, or curved forms, which is ideal for modern compact and innovative electronic designs. They generally have a lower self-discharge rate compared to some other lithium-ion batteries, meaning they can hold their charge for a longer time when not in use. However, their energy density may not be as high as some advanced liquid electrolyte lithium-ion batteries, especially in the case of solid polymer electrolyte batteries. The manufacturing process of lithium polymer batteries is more complex and often more expensive, which can affect their widespread adoption in some cost-sensitive applications.
