In order to place multiple positive and negative plates in the limited inner cavity of the 12V27A battery slot without short-circuiting the positive and negative plates, separators are installed between adjacent positive and negative plates. In addition to having good insulation properties, the separator can also ensure the full circulation of electrolyte. The separator can prevent short circuits between positive and negative plates, but will not hinder the flow of ions between the two poles, and will not deteriorate or release impurities after long-term use.
12V27A battery separator The separator of lead-acid batteries is made of microporous rubber, glass fiber and other materials. Its main function is to prevent short circuits between positive and negative plates, allow positive and negative ions in the electrolyte to pass smoothly, slow down the shedding of active substances on positive and negative plates, and prevent damage to positive and negative plates due to vibration. As a carrier of electrolyte, it can absorb a large amount of electrolyte and play a role in promoting good diffusion of ions (ionic conductivity). For valve-regulated sealed lead-acid batteries, the separator also serves as a "channel" for the oxygen generated by the positive plate to reach the negative plate, smoothly establishing an oxygen cycle and reducing water loss. The use of ultra-fine glass fiber separators is the key to achieving low maintenance for valve-regulated sealed lead-acid batteries.
The separator in the valve-regulated sealed lead-acid 12V27A battery uses glass fiber cotton, which should have the following characteristics:
1. Excellent acid resistance and antioxidant ability.
2. Uniform thickness, no pinholes in appearance, and no mechanical impurities.
3. Small pore size and large porosity.
4. Excellent ability to absorb and retain electrolyte.
5. Low resistance.
6. Have a certain mechanical strength to ensure process operation requirements.
7. Low impurity content, especially low iron and copper content.
