1. Type classification of car batteries
1. Ordinary battery
The plates of ordinary batteries are composed of lead and lead oxide, and the electrolyte is an aqueous solution of sulfuric acid. Its main advantages are stable voltage and low price; its disadvantages are low specific energy (that is, the amount of electrical energy stored per kilogram of battery), short service life and frequent daily maintenance.
2. Dry charge battery
Its full name is dry-charged lead-acid battery. Its main feature is that the negative plate has a high power storage capacity. In a completely dry state, it can store the power obtained within two years. When using it, just add electrolyte liquid, wait 20-30 minutes before use.
3. Maintenance-free battery
Due to its structural advantages, maintenance-free batteries consume very little electrolyte and basically do not need to replenish distilled water during their service life. It also has the characteristics of shock resistance, high temperature resistance, small size and low self-discharge. The service life is generally twice that of ordinary batteries. There are also two types of maintenance-free batteries on the market: the first type requires a one-time addition of electrolyte when purchased and does not require maintenance (adding replenishing fluid) during subsequent use; the other type is that the battery itself has electrolyte added and sealed at the factory. , the user cannot add refill fluid at all.
2. How to deal with a dead car battery
1. Cart starting is the most familiar and effective emergency starting method, but it is a last resort and cannot be used frequently. Because doing so will cause certain damage to the engine and clutch, automatic vehicles should especially avoid using this method to start.
2. In order to avoid being unable to charge when the battery is dead, car owners should prepare a jumper cable in the car, which can be purchased at ordinary auto parts stores. First connect the positive terminal of the dead battery to the positive terminal of the rescue vehicle battery, and then connect the negative terminal of the rescue vehicle battery to the metal part of the dead vehicle engine (ground wire). After the jumper cable is connected, you can start the engine of the rescue vehicle and slightly increase the engine speed. After about 5 minutes, you can emergency charge the dead battery. After charging is complete, the jumper cables should be removed in the reverse order of attaching them.
