　　Recently, foreign media reported that researchers from Argonne National Laboratory and the Wolverton group at Northwestern University jointly developed a rechargeable lithium-iron-oxide battery (rechargeable lithium-iron-oxide battery).

　　We know that the electric capacity of lithium batteries is mainly limited by the number of electrons in transition metals. The transition metal of lithium cobalt oxide batteries is cobalt, and cobalt is a rare metal. The global reserves and mining volumes are quite limited. This is also the reason for cobalt oxide batteries. One of the reasons why lithium battery prices are relatively high.

　　It is reported that the research team of Wolverton Laboratory used two strategies to replace cobalt with iron and force oxygen to participate in chemical reactions to improve battery performance based on ordinary lithium cobalt oxide batteries. What's more, the battery starts with four lithium ions instead of just one. The electric capacity of lithium batteries is mainly limited by the number of electrons in transition metals. The emergence of this technology means that the capacity of vehicle batteries will be greatly improved.

　　It can be seen that if the new battery can move from the laboratory stage to the commercial mass production stage, the battery life of pure electric vehicles is expected to increase by 3-4 times.
