Its characteristic is that even when fully charged, it will not catch fire whether drilling or cutting. Production costs are expected to be below 12 yen per watt-hour, lower than the 15-20 yen for traditional lithium-ion batteries. The new generation battery that is currently attracting the most attention is the “all-solid-state battery”. TDK started mass production for the first time in the world using the ceramic type method in 2018, and Toyota Motor and Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. are also vigorously developing it. However, most opinions believe that it will be officially popularized around 2030. Sodium-ion batteries are also receiving much attention. French start-up Tiamat has announced it will commercialize it. Sumitomo Chemical and Nippon Electric Glass are committed to materials research.
