Boston-Power: New electric vehicle battery technology unveiled

　　Boston-Power Battery Company of the United States recently announced that it will provide lithium battery manufacturing technology for the Saab 9-3ePower project. However, yesterday Boston-Power withdrew some of its technical content and announced that it hopes to establish a partnership with a company larger than Saab starting from the end of this year.

　　Boston-Power has been committed to the research and development of electric vehicle batteries for more than a year. The battery sold this time is called the Swing-Key battery pack, which is composed of several lithium batteries and a cooling system. The company said that in terms of power supply for electric vehicles, the power output of these lithium battery packs can be increased by 50% compared with battery packs of the same size used on the market. However, due to price and performance reasons, each battery pack currently has Lithium batteries have had to shrink in size.

　　Boston-Power stated that the Swing-Key battery pack’s service life has not been reduced under the premise of increasing power. The normal service life is 10 years, and it can work at low temperatures of minus 40°C.

　　As Ener1 Battery Company and Johnson Controls enter the electric vehicle battery market, although Boston-Power is a veteran in the electric vehicle battery market, the failure of its partner Saab in the automotive market, coupled with the Department of Energy's restriction on its US$100 million project funding Rejection kept the company in its infancy. Boston-Power is trying to relieve its own pressure with the advent of the Swing-Key battery pack.
