Quaternary CR2032 button cell battery contain more metal elements than ternary CR2032 button cell battery, because the price and cost of cobalt are very high in the market. Many car companies hope to find a metal element with lower cost and better performance to replace it. The quaternary lithium-ion battery is an exploration of abandoning or reducing the cobalt element. However, this battery technology is not very mature at present and is still under exploration. The reserves of cobalt are originally small, and more than 60% of the world's cobalt is in the unstable African country of Congo. Reducing the cobalt element, using cobalt-free battery cells, doping with specific elements of unpaired electron spins, and weakening the electron superexchange phenomenon.

Compared with ternary CR2032 button cell battery, the biggest feature of quaternary CR2032 button cell battery is that the material selection is richer than that of ternary batteries, which has the impact of greatly improving the cycle performance, thermal stability and safety.
