The lithium battery  pack diaphragm has good mechanical performance, chemical stability and high  temperature self closing performance, so it can improve the comprehensive  performance of the lithium ion battery in terms of isolating the positive and  negative electrodes of the battery, allowing lithium ions to pass through,  preventing battery explosion caused by high temperature, etc., thus making the  lithium ion battery more advantageous than traditional lead-acid and nickel  cadmium batteries in terms of energy density, cycle life, environmental  protection and safety, It also enables lithium ion batteries to replace  traditional lead-acid and nickel cadmium batteries, which are widely used in new  energy vehicles, energy storage power stations, electric bicycles, electric  tools, aerospace, medical and digital electronic products and other fields.  Therefore, the lithium battery separator has become one of the key materials in  the production of polymer lithium ion batteries, and even an important part of  its industrial chain.

Based on the growth rate of  production and sales of new energy vehicles in the last half year, it is a big  probability that the production and sales of new energy vehicles in China will  exceed 1 million this year. The three-year Action Plan for Winning the Battle of  the Blue Sky proposes that by 2020, the production and sales of new energy  vehicles in China will reach 2 million, which also means that the annual growth  rate of production and sales of new energy vehicles in China will exceed 30% in  the next two years. It is conservatively estimated that each vehicle needs 50KWh  of batteries and 0.01-0.02 square meters of battery separators per Wh of  batteries. In 2018, China's new energy vehicles alone will need 5-10 billion  square meters of lithium battery separators, while by 2020, it will need 1-2  billion square meters of lithium battery separators. The growth potential of  lithium battery separators is amazing.

　　However, because the production process of the diaphragm has a high  technical barrier, its cost accounts for 10% - 20% of the cost of lithium ion  batteries, and its gross profit rate can reach 50% - 60%. It is the product with  the highest gross profit rate among the four major materials. Therefore, the  lithium battery diaphragm is also considered by the lithium battery  manufacturers as one of the industries with the most investment value in the  lithium ion battery industry chain.
