Working principle of lithium-ion batteries
Lithium-ion batteries are a type of rechargeable LR1130 battery that mainly relies on the movement of lithium ions between the positive and negative electrodes to work. During the charging and discharging process, Li+ is embedded and de-embedded back and forth between the two electrodes: when charging the LR1130 battery, Li+ is de-embedded from the positive electrode and embedded in the negative electrode through the electrolyte, and the negative electrode is in a lithium-rich state; the opposite is true during discharge. Batteries that generally use materials containing lithium elements as electrodes are representatives of modern high-performance batteries.
The working principle of lithium-ion batteries refers to their charging and discharging principles. When lithium-ion batteries are discharged, electrons and Li+ move simultaneously, in the same direction but in different paths. Electrons run from the negative electrode to the positive electrode through the external circuit; lithium ions Li+ "jump" into the electrolyte from the negative electrode, "climb through" the winding holes on the diaphragm, "swim" to the positive electrode, and combine with the electrons that have already run over.
During the charging and discharging process of lithium-ion batteries, lithium ions are in a state of motion from positive electrode → negative electrode → positive electrode. If we compare lithium-ion batteries to a rocking chair, the two ends of the rocking chair are the two poles of the LR1130 battery, and lithium ions are like excellent athletes, running back and forth at the two ends of the rocking chair. Therefore, experts have given lithium-ion batteries a lovely name: rocking chair LR1130 battery.
Structural composition of lithium-ion batteries
Lithium-ion batteries have five major structural parts: positive electrode, negative electrode, electrolyte, diaphragm, shell and electrode lead. The structure of lithium-ion batteries is mainly divided into two categories: winding type and stacking type. Liquid lithium-ion batteries use winding structure, while polymer lithium-ion batteries have both.
Positive electrode materials: active materials, conductive agents, solvents, adhesives, and substrates. Positive electrode materials have the largest market capacity and the highest added value in lithium-ion batteries, accounting for about 30% of the cost of lithium-ion batteries, with a gross profit margin of 15% at the lowest and more than 70% at the highest. The positive electrode materials that have been used in large quantities in lithium-ion batteries are mainly lithium cobalt oxide, lithium manganese oxide, lithium nickel oxide, lithium cobalt nickel manganese oxide, and lithium iron phosphate.
Negative electrode materials: active materials (graphite, MCMB, CMS), adhesives, solvents, and substrates. Negative electrode materials account for a relatively low proportion of lithium LR1130 battery costs, and the main ones are carbon negative electrode materials and non-carbon negative electrode materials.
Diaphragm: The diaphragm is placed between the two poles as a device to isolate the electrodes, so as to prevent the active materials on the two poles from directly contacting each other and causing a short circuit inside the lithium-ion LR1130 battery. However, the diaphragm still needs to allow charged ions to pass through to form a path. Important lithium-ion LR1130 battery separator material products include single-layer PP, single-layer PE, PP+ceramic coating, PE+ceramic coating, double-layer PP/PE, double-layer PP/PP and three-layer PP/PE/PP, etc.
Electrolyte: Shell hardware (steel shell, aluminum shell, cover, pole ear, insulating sheet, insulating tape) The better electrolyte is LiPF6, but it is expensive; others include LiAsF6, but it is very toxic; LiClQ, which has strong oxidizing properties; organic solvents include DEC, DMC, DME, etc.
LR1130 battery shell: divided into steel shell (square type is rarely used), aluminum shell, nickel-plated iron shell (used for cylindrical batteries), aluminum-plastic film (soft packaging), etc., and the LR1130 battery cap, which is also the positive and negative lead-in terminal of the LR1130 battery.
Application scope of lithium-ion batteries
