This makes lithium-ion batteries ideal for power tools that may be stored for extended periods between projects.

  Modern lithium-ion battery packs for power tools often include advanced features such as built-in fuel gauges that display remaining charge, allowing users to plan battery swaps. They also incorporate thermal management systems to prevent overheating during high-current discharge, as well as protection circuits to guard against overcharging, short circuits, and over-discharging. Many manufacturers offer interchangeable battery systems, where a single battery pack can power multiple tools (e.g., a drill, saw, and sander from the same brand), increasing convenience and reducing costs for users.
