Experts believe that this technology has reached the domestic leading and international advanced level in terms of battery low-temperature performance, and will greatly improve the technical level of new energy pure electric vehicles in terms of range, low-temperature driving, safety, etc. Tang Zhiyuan, a professor at Tianjin University, said that compared with conventional batteries, lithium vanadium phosphate Lithium-ion batteries with vanadium as the positive electrode material have the characteristics of high capacity, good safety, long service life and excellent low-temperature performance. At present, the positive electrode materials used more in the battery market are lithium cobalt oxide, lithium manganese oxide, ternary materials and lithium iron phosphate. These batteries have their own characteristics, but a common drawback is that there are hidden safety risks. Electric car battery explosions or burns occur from time to time. If lithium-ion batteries are to be widely used in the field of electric vehicles, safety is the first problem that must be solved. Not long ago, this lithium vanadium phosphate battery passed the acupuncture safety test of the Chemical and Physical Power Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. During the acupuncture process, the battery did not explode or burn. After the acupuncture test, the battery remained intact, showing excellent safety. Tang Zhiyuan introduced that the acupuncture The puncture test is to use a large steel needle to directly pierce the battery when the battery is in working condition, artificially causing a momentary short circuit. It simulates the situation when a new energy car is suddenly hit violently under extreme conditions and the battery is severely damaged. This is the most extreme battery damage condition. In this case, many batteries currently in use will burn or explode due to the rapid generation of heat energy, but the lithium vanadium phosphate battery only emits a fine white smoke after the electrolyte is vaporized by heat, and there will be no safety issues. In terms of capacity, compared with commonly used automotive batteries, the capacity of lithium vanadium phosphate batteries per unit weight is about 26% higher, and in the future it is expected to increase to about 40% to 60%. In addition, lithium vanadium phosphate batteries have another outstanding feature, which is that their low-temperature performance is very good. At present, low-temperature environments The serious attenuation of batteries in the environment is a big problem encountered by new energy vehicles, especially pure electric vehicles. A typical example is that many pure electric vehicles with a range of about 200 kilometers may only have an actual range of more than 100 kilometers after being fully charged in the cold winter in the north, and the battery attenuation is serious. However, lithium vanadium phosphate batteries are different. According to national standards, automotive batteries can discharge 70% of their power under environmental conditions of minus 20 degrees Celsius, which means they are qualified. It is understood that this type of battery has been tested by the Chemical and Physical Power Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and can discharge 81% of its charge under environmental conditions of minus 30 degrees Celsius. Tang Zhiyuan said that similar products can only discharge 30% to 40% of their charge at a low temperature of minus 30 degrees Celsius.
