　　According to data provided by the Italian Renewable Energy Association AnieRinnovabili and grid operator Terna, in the first quarter of this year, Italy's newly installed photovoltaic capacity was approximately 105 MW, a significant increase from 89 MW in the same period last year. New PV installed capacity in the first quarter of 2017 was 84 MW. As of the end of March, Italy's photovoltaic installed capacity has exceeded 20 GW. Among them, March was the fastest growing month, reaching 39 MW, followed by 33.8 MW and 32.5 MW in January and February respectively. This growth trend reflects the pace of expansion over the past four years, with monthly average increases of approximately 30 MW. The Italian photovoltaic market is still dominated by rooftop solar deployment. According to the latest statistics, PV projects of 1 MW or less represented almost all newly deployed capacity, at 102.1 MW. Solar parks with more than 1 MW account for only 2.9 MW of the total. Residential PV systems of 20 kW still account for the largest share, with a capacity of approximately 62.1 MW. Photovoltaic systems between 20 kW and 100 kW accounted for 20.8 MW of the quarterly total. Meanwhile, installations of commercial and industrial PV systems ranging from 100 kW to 1 MW reached 19.5 MW in the first three months of this year. The area with the most development is, as usual, the most industrialized region of northern Italy. Lombardy had 19.1 MW of new solar grid-connected capacity, while the Veneto and Emilia-Romagna regions had 14.5 MW and 10.6 MW respectively in the quarter. Italy's integrated national climate and energy plan targets a cumulative installed photovoltaic capacity of 50 GW by 2030.
