Germany develops new bipolar plate that can save 80% of lithium 3400mah 3.7v 18650 battery materials

According to foreign media reports, the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental Safety and Energy Technology in Germany recently developed a new "bipolar plate". This device can be used for bipolar structure batteries, and the newly developed bipolar plate can save 80% of the material usage.

According to the researchers, the new bipolar plate uses conductive polymers and has extremely thin physical properties, which can save a lot of material usage compared to traditional lithium 3400mah 3.7v 18650 battery cells with traditional wiring. In addition, this material has strong corrosion resistance and plasticity, and can also achieve the sealing of the lithium 3400mah 3.7v 18650 battery cover through welding technology.

In fact, welding technology is not suitable for traditional bipolar plates, because the material is affected by thermal stress and mechanical force, not only can it not achieve the ideal sealing effect, but it also takes up a lot of space. However, the new bipolar plate is excellent in flexibility and hardness by adjusting the composition ratio of raw materials during the production process.

Dr. Anna Grevé, a researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute for Energy Technology, said that the new bipolar plate is made of a mixture of conductive polymer and graphite, with the proportions of the two being 80% and 20%. Dr. Anna Grevé said that the secret lies in the ratio of the raw materials, and the production process is not much different from the processing method of ordinary polymers.
