The development of multi-layer carbon nanotube film ensures that the 502030 battery has extremely high safety

Nature Communications recently published the research results of a joint team of the Academy of Special Sciences, Wuhan University of Technology and other units. They synthesized a multi-layer carbon nanotube film that can self-assemble on the surface of the metal lithium negative electrode to intercept lithium dendrites.

Zhang Hao, an associate researcher at the Academy of Special Sciences, introduced that metal lithium has the highest theoretical specific energy and is recognized as the most promising next-generation high-energy 502030 battery negative electrode material. The reason why it is difficult to use is that metal lithium produces lithium dendrites that pierce the 502030 battery under cyclic charge and discharge.

Zhang Huimin, the first author of the paper, introduced that the team cleverly designed a gradient metal lithium protective film with a "dual personality" of lithium affinity and lithium hatred. The bottom is a nano zinc oxide/carbon nanotube composite layer with lithium affinity, and the top is a carbon nanotube layer with a lithium hatred strength of up to 8GPa. The protective film can effectively inhibit the growth of lithium dendrites for a long time, ensuring that the 502030 battery has extremely high safety and a charge and discharge efficiency close to 100%.
