Researchers at UNIST have designed a new technology that can significantly improve the performance of lithium ion battery 18650. The scientists believe that this technology can help develop the next generation of rechargeable batteries. Additional in situ optical microscopy studies were performed during the research. The scientists monitored the electrochemical deposition of lithium in the lithium silicide modified electrodes, as well as the bare lithium electrodes. It was determined that the use of modified lithium anodes allowed for more uniform lithium dissolution/deposition compared to conventional bare models.

Further research into this technology will allow scientists to simplify and improve the design of lithium ion battery 18650. The researchers believe that this work will help provide consumers with more powerful, durable and efficient batteries that are also safe and rechargeable.
