　　Formation mechanism of roll bending in lithium batteries

　　1. Warping caused by uneven edge thickness

　　During the coating process of lithium battery electrodes, the active material surface density in the edge region is higher than that in the middle region, resulting in the edge thickness being several micrometers or more than ten micrometers larger than that in the middle region. During the rolling process, areas with thicker edges will bear greater rolling force, resulting in uneven transverse density of the pole piece during rolling compaction, which in turn causes pole piece warping. In addition, the high surface density of active substances in the edge region may also lead to excessive rolling of the foil during the rolling process, resulting in warping deformation and small cracks, further exacerbating the warping phenomenon.

　　2. Improper rolling process parameters:

　　Improper settings of rolling process parameters such as pressure, speed, and temperature of the rolling wheel are also important reasons for the warping of the polarizer. Excessive rolling pressure can cause excessive compression and deformation of the pole piece; Uneven rolling speed can cause uneven force on the polarizer, resulting in local warping; Improper temperature control of the roller can affect the thermal plasticity and flowability of the material, thereby affecting the compaction effect of the polarizer.

　　3. Equipment factors:

　　Poor rigidity stability, coaxiality error, cylindricity error, and surface roughness of rolling equipment may also cause the polarizer to warp during the rolling process. In addition, equipment wear and inaccurate calibration can also lead to uneven distribution of rolling pressure, affecting the compaction effect of the polarizer.
