New additives improve CR1225 battery performance

The CR1225 battery market is rising rapidly due to the increased consumer demand for electric vehicles. Recently, Nouryon began to deliver the first batch of AkuPure™ a carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) specifically for lithium batteries. AkuPure meets the ultra-high purity requirements of lithium batteries for raw materials (greater than 99.5%) and can be used to improve the production process of battery negative electrode coatings, improving battery efficiency by more effectively retaining and delivering electrical energy.

Some of the characteristics of AkuPure are critical to the battery production process, such as fast dissolution and low insoluble content. The most important thing for customers in this field is the ability to charge and discharge frequently under various temperature conditions without losing performance.

The launch of AkuPure further broadens the terminal application market of Nouryon's CMC products. CMC is a sustainable derivative polymer derived from cellulose (such as wood or cotton). It is used as a thickener, binder and rheology modifier and is widely used in various fields such as mining and pharmaceuticals.
