Increase investment in 18650 battery 3.7v 6000mah technology

According to foreign media reports, Volkswagen Group is currently increasing its stake in the solid-state energy company QuantumScape and establishing a new joint venture with it, aiming to pave the way for the next level of battery power for long-distance electric vehicles. Volkswagen will invest $100 million in QuantumScape and become the largest shareholder of this innovative enterprise. The transaction requires approval from relevant regulatory authorities.

Volkswagen Group Research has been working closely with this company separated from Stanford since 2012. Based on the important technological progress achieved by the cooperation between the two parties, QuantumScape and Volkswagen will cooperate in the newly established joint venture with the aim of achieving mass production of solid-state batteries. One of its long-term goals is to establish a mass production line for solid-state batteries in 2025.

Currently, the Volkswagen E-Golf can reach a range of 300 kilometers (186 miles), and solid-state batteries can increase its range to about 750 kilometers (466 miles). Such battery technology offers advantages over current lithium-ion battery technology, as it has higher energy density, improved safety, better fast charging capabilities, and most importantly, they take up less space.

Solid-state batteries of the same size as existing battery packs could enable vehicles with range comparable to conventional vehicles. While such technology is promising, it is difficult to make technical advances, and no other battery supplier can apply it to vehicle performance. Volkswagen said it has successfully tested early samples of QuantumScape's solid-state batteries in Germany.
