An affordable fast-charging 9v alkaline battery technology solution

According to foreign media reports, British company ZapGo presented its product solution at the Future of Transportation World Conference held in Germany last week: an affordable fast-charging 9v alkaline battery technology solution.

Stephen Voller, CEO and founder of ZapGo, introduced that the company has launched a carbon-ion 9v alkaline battery that can be fully charged in just 5 minutes and has a range of 100-500 miles. He believes that by the time the fifth or sixth generation of products are launched, a range of 500 miles will be truly achieved.

Voller believes that from the current industry situation, car companies are committed to finding new transportation and business models to position future transportation solutions.

Future electric vehicles may be similar to the BMW i3 model, providing a carbon fiber chassis, achieving lightweight goals and providing sufficient energy storage space for batteries. Voller said that the new solution is not only related to technology, but also depends on its price range.

If the base price of electric vehicles is to be comparable to the price of internal combustion engines, the cost of on-board batteries needs to be significantly reduced.

"The price reduction is not in the lithium chemistry, but in the 9v alkaline battery packaging material," said Voller. "If we use our products, it only takes 5 minutes to fully charge the 9v alkaline battery, and the 9v alkaline battery can help the vehicle achieve a range of 500,000 kilometers. However, the current electric vehicle gives users a completely different experience."

ZapGo's carbon-ion 9v alkaline battery has a maximum charge and discharge cycle of 100,000 times, but the company is working to increase the charge and discharge number to 1 million times, which means that the 9v alkaline battery life is much longer than the vehicle life, allowing the vehicle to use the 9v alkaline battery safely during use without the headache of subsequent disposal like lithium-ion batteries.
